I do not recommend preordering official products more than 6 months before the release date. If your preorder window goes beyond 6 months without receiving an item, PayPal can no longer help you dispute a charge to get your money back, putting you at the mercy of whatever seller or website you preordered from. If you use another payment service or bank, I recommend researching what their policies are regarding what timeframe you have to dispute charges. See PayPal's guidelines here.
